Default New England Firearms???

I am looking at buying a New England Firearms single shot handi-rifle chambered in .223 for varmint and coyote hunting. The only problem is i am having trouble finding reliable sources about the product. If anyone has any info about the manufacturer and the accuracy/reliability of the gun i would appreciate the knowledge.

I have a Handi-Rifle with the bull barrel in .223 and love it. I have the green wood-grain laminated stock on mine.

I bought it as sort of a novelty gun, but it is a true shooter.

Do 3 things, though...

1. Put a rubber O-ring between the fore-stock and the barrel, where the stud screws through the fore-stock into the barrel.

2. Have the trigger lightened. NEF will do this for $20. No shipping. A good gunsmith can do the same, and faster.

3. Find some good ammo. Mine liked the Black Hills stuff.

After doing all this, I went from 2" groups at 100yds to under an inch consistently.

In my opinion, you can't beat them for the $$$$$$$$. Heck, they'll out shoot a lot of guns that cost 3X as much.

I like pro-line have the varmit rifle bull barrel .243. After a nice trigger job it will go sub 1in moa. Great rifle for my 12 year old daughter and wife.Topped with a nikon pro staff 3x9x40. less than $400.00 and a great shooting machine. There is a web site that is specificly talking about NEF but I cant remember want its address is. There site is www.h&r1871.com.Its a good little rifle for the money. good luck

I too have the handi-rifle in .223, but the standard barrel. I still have not had the trigger lightened as of yet, but I can shoot about 2 MOA right now. I think that trigger will be the next thing that gets taken care of on any of my firearms!

Hey John, you said it out shot your buddies 40x? Wow, I guess he was pissed. And to think I once dreamed of owning one. Saved some $$$$ there, thanks!

The 40X is the most OVER-RATED, OVER-PRICED gun going in my opinion.

I'll put my NEF up against a 40X, and not at all be ashamed. With the price they're getting out of the 40X, it should come with a reloader and someone to shoot to boot.

I am just completely disappionted with Remington altogether anymore.

single shots are known for having great to excellent accuracy , they have stiffer actions , and the best scope mounting systems you can have , directly on top of the barrel/bore
