I had a Handi rifle in 30-06 and totally loved it. Very good accuracy easy to carry and comes up great. I really liked the feel of it, it really felt like an extension, very comfortable stock and forearm and aimed nicely. In my 06 shooting 180 gr corelokts in a rifle only 3 feet long, it had some serious recoil. Wish i hadnt sold mine, i will have another probably with several diffrent barrels. I want a 7mm-08, 45/70, .280, .17 to name a few. For the money you definetly cant beat it. I highly recommend it.

the old h&r/NEF site shut down their message boards, but many of the die-hards there went to www.greybeardoutdoors.com. they have quite the forum set up for nef shooters

I had a 223 NEF. It was stolen. It shot great. I have a 280, 44 Mag and 45-70 all in the NEF. They all shoot very well. If I had to I could hunt everything in North America with just that 280. The 280 has a 26 inch barrel and attains very good Velocity.

ORIGINAL: Pro-Line

2. Have the trigger lightened. NEF will do this for $20. No shipping. A good gunsmith can do the same, and faster.
If you purchase one of the additional barrels they will do this trigger job for free on request while fitting the barrel.

Great gun, fantastic shooter, and cheap, too. Plus you can find spare barrels in various calibers. NEF will tell you that you have to send the rifle back to the factory to have a new barrel fitted, but I never did while I owned the rifle and never experienced any difficulties.

Sorry for the late reply Tribal. I bought the survivor in .223, and it was just under $200. I think I paid $211.00 out the door. I put on a cheap simmons 8 point scope I had, and bought some Winchester ammo (also at Walmart), and after sighting in, shot a few 3 shot groups that would fit in a Quarter. I'm eager to get a trigger job, and put a few hundred rounds through the gun to see how it works out!
