RE: Rifles for mulie and pronghorn
I would bring the 270 & 300.
Another thing to consider is factory ammo selection? If you need to buy some after you arrive in Wyoming? Your scope could be way off zero when you arrive? Will the local gas station carry what you shoot. The 7mm-08 ammo can be hard to find in Montana. The ammo choices around here are 30-06, 300-win mag, 270-win, 7mm-rem. mag & 223. You might consider this because the airport gorilla's will be handling you rifles.
Have a great time.

All 3 rifles shoot very well. the 300 is a ruger 77 with 3-9 leupold, the 270 is a rem. 700 with bushnell 3-9 and the 7mm-08 is a browning micro hunter with burris 2-7. I love the 270 and have already taken mulies and pronghorn with it. But the little browning is a joy to carry and I don't think any critter would know wether it was shot with the 270 or the 7mm-08 (or would really care). The only reason I am considering the shot is that the outfitter said that shots may be out to 300 yds but likes to keep them under 250. The 300 would have a bit more oomph out there but it is a bit heavy to be lugging around all day. I was leaning toward the 270 and 7-08. Ammo is no concern. I shoot handloads and will have plenty. Hopefully I will only need some to check zero then 2 more

I'd take the 270 and the 300. The 270 and 7mm-08 are a lot alike, but the 270 is flatter shooting. All three would be just fine but I would feel more comfortable on a long shot with the 300 or the 270 in my hands

If you can hit these animals at 300-400 yards any of the three have more than enough power for Mule deer and Pronhorns. Use the one that you can hit the target best with at that range.

Thanks guys. I guess you answered my question. But just for the record I won't shoot at anything much over 300 yds and would prefer 250 or less. I took a nice whitetail a few years ago that ranged in at 323yds with my 270 and he look mighty small out there even with the scope on 9X.
I plan on doing a lot of shooting this summer using mostly the 270 with some using the 300WM from prone, sitting and kneeling to get me back in form. Also going to do a good bit of shooting using my new versa-pod to make sure it has the same POI.
