Default Dad bought himself Benelli Nova

He just bought his nova at Cabelas and we put it together, just a few questons. When the action is closed, the fore arm will move up just a smidge. I assume this is normal. Also if the barrel is out, is it bad to close the action all the way? The barrel was of and i closed the action softly. It looks and feels great!. Also if you close the action firmly (with barrel in reciever) do you get a little ting sound? Thanks!

All the things you mention are perfectly normal. The slight movement of the forearm and the "ting" are just as they ought to be. The Nova is a good gun, distinctive in appearance and about as straight forward as a hammer on nail. Regarding closing the action without the barrel in place, smarter folks than I will have to answer that. Intuition says you won't do harm to the gun by doing so, unless you are heavy handed about it.
