QUESTION ON GUN LOCK UP OF NEF HANDI-RIFLE
ok James B and others that know about these. Unfortunately i read a thread on the greybeards forum where a guy described his groups doing similiar things as mine has done. His was discovered to rattle where the barrel and breeche face lock up as if to have become loose.
Well, in light of that info, I went to check mine out. I do not have a rattle. But, upon trying to move it up and down as if I were breaking it open but without pushing the latch, I can feel a very slight detectable amount of play. It is very slight and you really have to feel for it as you can't really see it moving. Do you think that my rifle has this problem or is this normal and my rifle is fine there? Thanks for the help.

RE: QUESTION ON GUN LOCK UP OF NEF HANDI-RIFLE
I owned a NEF in 270 for about 2 days. I went out to shoot it, had it sighted in @ 50yds took out to 100yds and my groups started to get bigger & bigger then I couldn't hit a 3' x 3' backboard. After investigating I had severe play in the barrel (up & down & side to side). Returned it to the store I got it from and never owned one since.
I know other people that owned these guns and just love them, one shop owner told me his gun safe won't be with out one. This is the first I have heard other people having the same problem I had, just thought I had a lemon.
I would like to here what NEF explination of why they do this and what the fix is.

I have eight of them. I have never had this problem with any of mine. I would send it back to NEF for a checkout. I know they will fix whatever the problem is. Do you hear a good solid click when the latch closes? Make sure there is no metal shavings or maching scrapes anywhere that might be preventing it from closing good and solid. Sometimes they need a very good cleaning as this seem to not be done at the factory. Open and shut it damn good and hard a few times then check it again.
