rkbo and mainhunt
I sure am glad I read this post before buying. I simply asked a guy I know a few questions and went with what he said. I did a little research last night and found out the truth. I hunt primarily whitetails so the biggest gun I use is a 30-06. I was going to be elk hunting next season and wanted to go with a 300. After searching the web last night, I think I like the 300 rum or 300 win.
Thanks guys for setting me straight.

burnie'
I love my 300 Winchester. The only down-side of this cartridge is maybe that the neck is a little too short. The weatherby has a little bit more oomph, but as the other guy said, buy ammo or brass for it. Expensive. Weatherbys remind me of John Deere tractors, they're both good, but you pay extra just for the name.
