Default H&R Talk- Gone!

What happened? Will it be back? Where did it go? Anyone know what's up? That was a great site, much like this one, for learning and getting some excellent advice. What happened?

yeah, I found that too, thats why I came here, I think the post said something about false information in too many posts. but that's a shame, because it was a really good forum

I was a regular on Marlin Talk for a few years. I wonder if the less-than-gentlemanly tenor of a lot of the posts (of which I was guilty from time to time) factored into Marlin's decision to pull the board. I was under the impression that it was a permanent decision. To that end, this board seems quite a bit milder and much more informative in tone. This is my first day here, so I guess I'll see.

It can get heated from time to time but most the time people are considerate of others. Welcome to the board.

I will sure miss the H&R talk site. I enjoyed it a lot. I hope they will get another one off the ground soon.

Welcome Colonel.
I have a Rossi myself, but being very similar to the H&R and NEF's, I found quite a bit of great info on those boards. Sorry that they're gone, but you and all of the other guys from there are welcomed here!

Thanks for the waqrm welcome. I've always been interested in how those Rossis performed. My chosen profession, while a lot of fun, doesn't pay much, so I'm always interested in which guns draw the line between inexpensive and cheap.

This Is What Marlin Has Placed As Their Reason For Closing Marlin Talk

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We noted that “Marlin Talk” was cancelled because of “technical and administrative considerations”. As you all know, Marlin pays to have our website – including “Marlin Talk” – on the Internet. It is, therefore, a company sponsored feature. This makes Marlin responsible for what appears on the site. As you know, many statements, questions and recommendations appear on the site that may be factually wrong, provide dangerous information, or contradict Marlin safety instructions. Ideally, “Marlin Talk” entries that we disagree with or are just plain incorrect, should be answered by Marlin at the site in a timely manner.

This task simply cannot be done because of lack of personnel – thus it is truly an “administrative” problem. To continue with “Marlin Talk”, leaving these concerns, questions, and issues unanswered, is a situation that we do not consider acceptable.

To allow former “Marlin Talk” members the opportunity to retrieve e-mail addresses or download listed posts we are opening “Marlin Talk”, without the ability for users to post, until February 20, 2004.

We apologize for any inconvenience that the discontinuance of “Marlin Talk” causes you, but due to a wide variety of issues we have no alternative choice
