The wood on the pump and the stock are mint. There is not a scratch or rust anywhere on the metal. I've seen guns out of the box that dont look as good as this does and its older than me ( 28 ). I'll look it over 2nite and give you more details. My Dad just gave it to me about a month ago ....

Slugman-----You can only shoot 2 3/4" shells in that gun. I use 2 3/4" Federal #4's in my 870 for turkey. Never had to use more than 1 shot any any gobbler I've taken. You got yourself a dang fine turkey gun there. You may want to think about a camo gun sock for it or camo tape. I would think twice about the camo tape-----sometimes it's hard to remove.

DG---- I thought 1200 was for pump---1300 for the auto. You are probably correct 1300 for pump & 1400 for the auto. Doesn't really matter I got my 870 back in 71-----never have needed another field gun. FYI--I shoot a BT-99 for trap----That's another gun that set a standard------ IMO. I

Don't alter that gun in any way. Don't put no tape on it. Don't drill the stock for a sling swivel. The only acceptable mod would be if you need to change stock length to fit you. As long as it was a professional quality job. The way you describe the gun it is not just a field grade gun. In no way am I saying don't shoot it. After all the Model-12 is a John M. Browning design and his guns were ment to be shot.

I always thought the fixed chokes were the way to go. My old full chokes shoot like rifles.

if you own a nickel steel model 12 with a 30" full choke, you cannot get a choke tube that would do much better.i owned two before they were stolen.many turkey ,deer and squirrels were taken with both of them.the pattern was awesome with about any size shot.
