Which one would you do over the other and why:

Have your stock trigger worked on to reduce pull and creep.

or

Buy an aftermarket trigger.

I've had my stock triggers worked. For the money, it was well worth it. My groups have improved greatly!
I don't know if the after market triggers would greatly improve on what I've already done, for the difference in costs!
For a competition gun, maybe it would be worth the exta $$$. Depends on what you want!

My ignorance may show, but why can't you replace a worked on trigger with a aftermarket? Is there something on the rifle frame itself that is tweaked also?

I would say it depends on the stock trigger if were say a Remington 700 rifle I would have a trigger job done it as in my mind it is one of the best triggers ever. If it were one of the older Rugers I would replace it.

I do all of my Remingtons myself,other brands I put after market triggers on. The others are a pain...[X(]

I've always done all my own trigger work. I've never had a need to use an aftermarket trigger. True some factory triggers will never be "target triggers" but they normally aren't target quality rifles to begin with.

I wouldn't say a pain. Just takes more than a screwdriver. You should see what I can do to a Ruger trigger. I can even tune a Savage trigger with no problems. Just takes a little time and knowledge, and plenty of patience. Remingtons are my favorite to work on, but Rugers are my favorite to shoot.

You CAN!! Just because youve tried to have the "issue" trigger improved, doesn't keep you from replacing it later, if it still isn't up to your requirements!!
