Remington Model 7
I'm considering purchasing a Remington Model 7 in 7mm-08 and I was wondering about its performance. The ballistics for the round seem pretty good, but they are all based on a 24 inch test barrel. What impact would the 20 inch barrel have on velocity/energy? I like the way the shorter barrel feels, but I'm a little concerned about losing too much power. Thanks

I own a Model 7 in 7mm-08 in the 18.5 inch barrel. You will lose some velocity, about 200 fps., and energy compared to the 24 inch barrel, but I don't think the deer you shoot will be able to tell the difference. If you get one of these rifles you won't regret it. They're light weight and easy to carry all day, surprisingly accurate, and loaded with a 120 gr. Barnes X bullet they're devastating on game.

I have a 7 in the 7mm-08 and it's a great gun! I also have an Encore 15" handgun in the 7mm-08 and the deer drop the same with both...<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>
