I would atleast try to shoot the weatherby. If the seller lives close by, he might
let you shoot it first for the cost of a few shells, if you like it, you got your answer. I would take shooting any used gun first ,over buying a new one. If shells for that 270 wby cost 60 bucks up there and the guy selling the 270wby
doesn't handload, I bet the gun hasn't seen 200rds, more like 100rd.
Thats five box's or 300 bucks worth of ammo!
You didn't say if the weatherby is a mark V or not and some mark v's in wby mag calibers came with 24inch tubes instead of 26inch so check.
