depending on how far your shots will be it would depend on what caliber you want.
if shots are under 200yds and shots under 100yds a norm i would go with a 270win, 30-06sprg, 308win, 7mm-08rem.

I hope so. I just got the exact same rifle in 308 yesterday. I was not planning on this purchase but it was new in the box and my son was going to sell it. He decided to sell it to me. Smart move since he know that he will get it back when I no longer can hunt. Since I am 60 now that could be soon. I hope it will be many years yet of course. One never knows. Anyway when he gets it back it will have a good scope on it. He also know that he can borrow it if he draws a permit or just wants to go out and shoot. He is more of a pistol shooter than rifle. I used to be as well.
