I think I will go with a 7mm Rem Mag. Is this caliber a good brush gun? How much size difference is there between a 7mm and a .30 cal bullet?

Define brush gun. If you mean with it shoot through brush without deflection then no, there is no such thing. If you mean will it be short and easy to handle in the brush then no again since a 24" barrel is about as short as you can go on a 7mm Rem Mag.

BTW, the 7mm is .284" while the 30 is .308", or 7mm vs 7.62mm if you prefer metric. 7mm is a great bullet.

I mean does it get deflected on twigs and small branches easily. I wouldn't have very many brush shots but I thought I'd ask.

All projectiles deflect, from 17 caliber to 12 gauge slugs. No such thing as a brush buster. However, with the flat trajectory you stand a better chance of being able to pick a clear shot.
