Ha Ha ,LOL ! I knew you were gonna pull out the Federals. But your mistaken The 100gr barnes has 42 inches of drop, its your 90 gr. siera that has 34 inches of drop.
While the .243 in 85 gr federal siera has a velocity of 2180 at 500 yds with energy at 890which is about 100lbs less than your 100gr.barnes but 300lbs more than your 90gr. siera, and only drops 32 inches at 500 yds with a 200 yd zero.

Ha Ha ! LOL. man I love talking guns.
see I can shoot federals too. LOL.
Ps the .243 with the 85gr.siera has 18.8inches of wind drift at 500yds while the your 100 gr.barnes has 22in.

Do a search on .243 ammo and youll find 115 gr bullets for handloading
Dont know anything about ballstics but I hear guys getting some awsome numbers with hot loads.

There was a misprint in my table for the barnes bullet but the 115gr 25-06 nosler partition data is correct and it carries 955 ft lbs at 500 yards while dropping 35.8" with a 200 yard zero.It is also a bullet that is suitable for big game up to elk and will not come apart at close ranges like the the 85gr-243 sierra bullets that you refer to.The winchester 85gr ballistic silvertip load for the 25-06 starts out at 3470fps and will only be 32.5" low at 500 yards with a 200 yard zero but then again it will probably come apart at close ranges like the light sierra bullets. The bottom line is that when suitable big game bullets such as the partition and scirocco are used the 25-06 will shoot flatter and hit harder than the 243win.

My opinion of the 25.06 is that it' s a great caliber. I like it so much that i have two of them It' s a flat shooter with low recoil that hits hard. I' ve probably killed more deer with a 30.06 than anything but i started using the 25.06 several years ago and fell in love with it and now a days for deer hunting the 25.06 is all i use.

I just got a 25-06 and love it. It has much less recoil with 117 grain bullets than my 30-06 with 165s. Really, there is no punishing recoil at all. It is accurate and flat shooting. And with hornady SST interlock bullets it will kill deer and probably Elk too in dramatic fashion. I have had to be careful not to shoot the deer up because it hits them so hard. If you hit a meat area, it will get ruined.

Oh man we can go around and around on this one. There must be a type-o on the partition that you talk about cause this doesnt look the same. Take a look at the link at the bottom.

All Ive' been saying all along is the .243 is a duall purpose gun, it can do what the 25 does and also be a varnint gun. No doubt they are very similar performing guns, you cant deny that, the 25 does carry a little more energy though, but everything I find shows the .243 to be flatter shooting, with better accuracy.
Heres another comparo.

Get a 243 and don' t look bad... You have a 7 rem mag and that is versatile enough ...except for Varmints...

On the varmint issue....I can produce many witnesses that I have killed woodchucks with a 25-06 at more that 700 yards.....and I am not bragging or kidding......with both 87 and 100 grain bullets. Not bad for a second class, back seat caliber.
