I stopped at Cabela's earlier today (after my morning school bus runs), and picked up a nice soft storage/carrying case, and also a 25 round box of 110gr Hornady Critical Defense (NON +P) rounds -- recommended for older .38 snubnose revolvers in today's day and age. Once I home, I checked everything over, got out the S&W model 36, loaded it with 5 rounds of the Hornady, and put it in my coat pocket (yes, I have a CWP for Virginia). Then I took my dog Reggie for a dog walk with the S&W in my coat pocket. No big deal. No issues. Just a completely different carrying style, compared to my heavy full size 1911-A1 .45ACP in a shoulder holster! Wow...

BIG nono storing in a case like that. Those things are moisture traps. If you are dead set on keeping it in there, invest in some silica bags and keep one or 2 in the case with the gun. Your best bet is a gun safe or or some sort of storage that you can put a dehumidifier in. I have several very old muzzle loaders that I have to be very particular with storage. Pretty much any gun case, soft or hard, are just for short storage for transport. There are some with silicone impregnated liners that are good. Sort of like gun socks.

I have a bunch of those desiccant bags, and use them in all my gun cases.
