RE: Finally joined the NRA....
Alot of people just think the NRA is just a political organization. And based on what they are told in the mainstream media, I can understand why. The NRA is ivolved in much more that politics. Take a look at some of the great things the NRA does.

fight4yourguns,
You are right. I think the NRA did not become active in politics untill the 1968(?) gun laws went into effect. That was before my time, but I was given some Rifleman magazines from the late 60' s to the mid 70' s and you can tell as the years go by that they are getting into politics more.

Your Right! The more the Anti Gun movement grew so did the NRA toward politics, they had no choice, and neither do we to help in any way we can.

RE: Finally joined the NRA....
My brother-in-law began hunting 4 years ago and when he learned that I joined the NRA, his first reaction was that the NRA was too extreme. After a 3 minute conversation with him, I talked to him about the reasons why the NRA is the reason that either of us can exercise our right to own guns (and hunt deer) and therefore convinced him why he too, should be a member. I think he' ll be joining soon too... For anyone who truly understands the big picture, it' s a no brainer.
If it weren' t for the " extreme" positions that NRA takes once in a while, neither you nor I would still enjoy the right to use a gun, for anything except what the government ordered!! Yes, the NRA does a lot of good and improtant things besides helping us keep our liberties, but that is the MOST IMPORTANT thing that they do!!

Jimbo good work,Hope your Bother in Law does join. Some might say the NRA are extremists. If you look back severals years. When (we) the NRA gave an inch to the Anti Gun groups they wanted a foot. They are never satisfied. Now the NRA won' t give in to any of them.I' m proud the way the NRA stands it' s ground.Allot complain that the NRA is always asking for money. I agree they do. Legal fees aren' t cheap and they have to get money from somewhere.Granted I can' t give everytime they ask but when I can I dig into my pockets. Thanks again Jimbo and keep up the good work.
