Barrel wear on the .270, 7 mag, -06?
I am about to buy a gun in one of the above calibers, and I was wondering about barrel wear in them. I shoot ALOT, and when I go I go for awhile. So will I be replacing the barrels on any of these after 1,000 rounds? 1,000 rounds goes pretty quick for me. Thanks fellas.

If you don' t overheat them and clean them properly all three will last a few thousand rounds or more.If you fire many consecutive shots without letting the barrel cool you can ruin the barrel on any of the three in less than a thousand rounds.

A lot depends upon your definition of " worn out" . To an accuracy nut worn out can mean your average group size has increased 1/8" or so. For the average deer hunter it would take several thousand rounds before generally noticing any difference.

Stubble could' ntve said it any better. Proper cooling between rounds (when shooting big hot rounds) is imperative. " Washin out a barrel" can happen to ANYTHING if you bang away in 90 degree heat. If a barrel is anything above " warm" then let it cool. Waiting until it is flatout HOT will just make a trip to the gunsmith that much sooner.
Barrelwear on the 3 calibers you asked about is practically the same and with proper care you will get a lifetime plus from either!

If you shoot that much, a new barrel is alot cheaper than the ammunition you will put through it. Don' t think of a shot out barrel as an ending, but think of it as an opportunity- an opportunity to install a premium aftermarket barrel.[8D]
Almost all of the wear on the barrel will be throat erosion- unless you are careless with cleaning, which can ruin a barrel much quicker than shooting it will ever do.
To compensate for throat erosion, you may have to clean the barrel more often to get the fouling out of the throat area, and seat the bullets slightly farther out to compensate for the change in the length of the throat.

I had a Remington 700 30-06 that I used for a while shooting Silhouettes. I had about four thousand rounds through it before it went south on me. I rebarrelet it to 280 Remington. If you reload you can extend your barrel life by reducing your loads down a bit from the Max. As said above, watch out for overheating and a good barrel should go 2000 rounds.
