However, like I posted earlier, the firing pin on THAT rifle would not strike the primer hard enough to fire a rifle primer. I put hundreds of rounds with the large pistol primers through that rifle with exactly zero perforated primers. They worked fine in THAT rifle. All of my other rifles have absolutely no problem firing rifle primers, so I wouldn't even think of using pistol primers in them.

I was only explaining why someones rifle wouldn't consistently shoot rifle primers and why the pistol primers they used worked. Fixing the rifle would be the thing to do.

This story reminds me of my last range session: I was shooting a muzzle loader and the ball got stuck just inside of the barrel. To get the ball down the barrel I had to literally hammer the rod with a rubber mallet. The whole time I kept thinking "God please don't let this go off I really want to keep my hand!"
