RE: side by side what happened?
" To be honest, side by sides have more class and character than o/u. " As far as class and character, I don' t see any difference between o/u and s/s, I guess it' s a matter of personal opinion. I much prefer the handling of an o/u to a side by side and it seems most competitive shooters feel the same way.

The sxs' s aren' t seen too much for several reasons. They are expensive to make. They aren' t very popular- mainly a small number of upland bird hunters are the market. Trapshooters who buy the bulk of double tubed shotguns prefer 0/U' s. There are a couple of manufacturers that make them at a reasonable price such as Ruger and Franchii which price them from around $1500- 3000, I' ve also seen a few brownings out there from upwards of $4000. If you think the good old days were better, I' ve seen several sxs' s from earlier in the century that are worth well over $10,000 -even when they were new, they were out of the price range of the common man. These prices aren' t unreasonable when you consider that you are buiying something with a limited production run and that a good quality O/U starts at around $1500.

I bought a Stoeger O/U a couple of months ago and its performed flawlessly. I spent a total of $338 out the door. I could take a nice hunting trip for what some of you spend on fine arms. Ill agree its not flashy but it sure seems functional. I shoot clays all day long with it !

170 class, I' m delighted to hear that someone finally bought a good shooting Stoeger S/S. The two that I had both had at least one barrel that shot two feet away from the point of aim at twenty yards. A 20 Ga and a .410

wholesale sports in alberta has the ruger gold label for $2400.00 Canadian. You just saved a thousand bucks off your estimate so you can get a nice rifle to go with that.

They are becomming more of a " classic style" of shooting. As far as price, yes, they are a bit up there. I' ve a pair of Winchester 21' s I' d never part with (they are sweet) and they swing, handle, and shoot as fast as any O/U I' ve ever shot.
