colorado gun hunting question
First should be easy one I'm assuming the REM 700 308 or 3006 is fine for elk in the rockys of Colorado. Second were moving there well be done moving in the morning. So ill be applying for my carry permit. From what I read I can open carry till I get it and concealed in my car? Lastly once I get my permit do I have to conceal on my person as ok some states like Florida say so and it says conceal carry permit

Colorado is still and open carry state. Denver and other cities have different rules. Your vehicle according to my state trooper friends is an extension of your home/property, so you can conceal it in the vehicle. They say don't offer any information if a officer stops you unless he asks if you have a firearm in the vehicle. Once you have a concealed carry permit it is your option whether to carry in the open or conceal it. I usually conceal it if I'm going to be around town just for the respect of others. During hunting season well I don't have time for all that and it remains in the open. Concealed permits in a lot of counties in Colorado are easy to get.
So where are you moving to?

I'll second the notion to NOT open carry in public. Sure, if you want to be one of those jackazzes exercising his rights and making a youtube video, go right ahead, but mostly it just makes everyone uneasy, and frankly, someone that doesn't know the law WILL call the cops, and they WILL come check you out, hold you up, and recommend you stop carrying openly in town. If it becomes too much of an issue, they CAN charge you based on public nuisance laws. Been there, done that, got the T-shirt...

Unfortunately that's the reality. Even carrying a new long gun through the parking lot in Loveland can cause traffic accidents amongst those watching you.

Colorado is where the "coasts" are moving to. The front range in particular behaves more like California or New York than it reflects any of what used to be uniquely - Colorado.

As usual, a bunch of BS. I have opened carried for years in Colorado with zero complications. The worse thing that I ever had happened to me was, a checker at King Soopers asked me if it was a real gun. A few people looked.
In the mountains, no one will even give you a second look. In town, no one has ever bothered me but I don't look like a thug. I've even had cops ask me what I was carrying.
Not a big deal but it is illegal in Denver county. You have to watch out for annexed sections. In a couple of places you think you are not in Denver but the property is annexed.
