RE: Sighting in...Need HELP!!!
your rifle as stated before must like fed. why would you want to change anything . elk are large animals and need good shooting with a .270 to make clean kills so practice makes good sense. good luck and happy hunting. remember the kill is the end of the hunt

RE: Sighting in...Need HELP!!!
I' m gonna try again Thursday. This time I aint messing around with the Remingtons first. I' m going straight to the Federals and hope I can get it where I want it before they beat me to a pulp. Also gonna take a bipod for the rifle and see if that helps any. I know 270 is the minimum cal for elk, that' s why I went to the Federal HEs trying to get more energy down range. If I can' t get it to group, I guess I' ll have to find another ammo to try. I' ll let you guys knows how it goes.
Thanks
Thanks

This is actually quite common as many guns apparently don' t like the light magnums or HE' s.I have seen a 308 do as you describe.Groups with it' s favorite ammo were around 1" but were 3" or more with light magnums.

I got it to group at 200 & 300 with the Federal ammo. Started with a clean barrel on a bi-pod at 100. Got it to shoot sub 1" groups. Moved to 200 and got 1 1/2" groups and at 300 got 3" groups. Figured it was good enough for a hunting rifle.
