1100 smoothbore vs smoothbore choketube barrel
i'm getting a smoothbore barrel for my 1100. rem, sells one with a rifled/ and a Improved Cylinder choke...theres also one used thats just a smoothbore no choke....my question is ...is a smoothbore barrel better than a smoothbore rem choked barrel? might be a dumb question i don't know...will a smootbore choke hurt the shooting of the barrel slow down the slug? vs a barrel thats just smooth....i got a fully rifled 1100(scoped) i'm looking for a bush gun(rifled sights) that will shoot cheap slugs i can load myself. thanks ed for any help

Theoretically, a smooth bore would probably more accurate than a choked barrel. Although many shoot slugs out of an improved cyl. choked barrel with good accuracy. The chokes don't slow the slugs down, just deform them slightly. If it's a barrel dedicated to just slugs, get the smooth bore.

thanks for the reply...i looked around and seen there was a sale at remington i got the barrel with rifled choke and the improved cyl choke.. for like 175.00 it'll be used as a bush gun under 50 yards...i seen the used smoothbore going for close to that money..though what the hell maybe i'll like the rifled tube..thanks ed
