Default H&R Model 949 Revolver

My dad just gave me his .22 pistol. Just wondering if anybody has had this model or knows anything about it. Looks like a cool little gun and i've been waiting to get a .22lr in a pistol.

Also, he bought this off a friend about 30 years ago. We don't have a permit for it and i don't know if we need one just to own it, not carry it. I am not familiar with laws on owning pistols in PA. It has been sitting in the gun safe for ever. If we do get a permit (if we even need one) for it will i be able to take it to the range with out him? i am not of legal age to own a handgun. Thanks

the 949 should be a 9 shot revolver. i owned one many years ago. it was my first handgun. be careful about shooting hi velosity ammo in it. sometimes the round next to the chamber would go off. when i used standard velosity rounds i had no problems. it was a fun gun to shoot. as far as getting a permit for it, check with the local police dept.
