What I did not like about the X-Bolt synthetic stock was the hollow feeling the butt of the stock had. To me the wood stock of the X-Bolt had a more solid feel and had a stiffer forearm.

I'm not recoil sensitive,; you see, I shoot shotguns with 3" & 3 1/2" mags so the recoil from a .338 WM is nothing to be concerned about.
I like guns that you can take out in any weather or in any terrain and not worry about what might happen to them (no blueing, no wood ).
For me it's a tool, not a collector's item.
Like a "good" hammer; it's gonna get banged around, but it's still works great when you need to hammer nails.
I do have one "fancy" O/U that I bring to the range to shoot clays with the boyz; but everything else I use for hunting !

Wife has an Xbolt, and I have 2 model 70s(new havens). I like how the Xbolt feel in my hands, but, overall, I still love my model 70s. Accuracy can vary from gun to gun, but if you reload, you can make about any gun with a sound barrel accurate. If you like controlled round feeding, and a 3 position safety, get the model 70. If you like the short bolt lift, and push feeding, with the tang safety, get the Xbolt. If you can afford it, treat yourself and buy one of each!

I've seen several of my Friends using and sighting in the Composite/Synthetic Stock Rifles and I must say...I was impressed with how well their shots grouped....I hate to admit it it,but better than my Wood Stock Rifles! 
I have a Savage 7mm-08,Model 111 or 11? GCNS Bolt-Action,Accu-Trigger with the wood stock and blued barrel...its a great Rifle and the recoil isn't as bad as a 30-06 or .308.....and if You get a Bolt-Action You can shoot the Remington Managed Recoil Shells and the felt recoil will be even less!
I also have a Browning A-Bolt Hunter in a .243 bolt action and its a great looking and very accurate Rifle,its bolt action is very smooth and tight..You can't go wrong wih a nice Browning Rifle either!
