Remington 870 vs Mossberg 835
Need help y'all. I want a new pump 12 gauge for squirrel, rabbit, deer(with slug bbl)and some duck & geese hunting. But I'm stuck between a 870 Express Magnum or a 835. Both fit me well but I'm not sure what to get. I have a Stoeger 2000 as my "official" turkey shotgun but id like a pump but I'm stuck between those 2. Thanks.

I'm a tried-and-true Mossberg fan, but I'll let you know that you can't shoot slugs out of your regular 835 barrel. It's got an over-bored barrel. If you plan on buying a bird/slug combo, the 835 gets my vote for sure. But if you aren't wanting to purchase a slug barrel for deer, then the 870 may be the way for you to go since you can shoot rifled slugs out of it as-is.

I have the 835 combo. It's very accurate with the slug barrel and patterns great with the 24" turkey tube.I have all but the skeet choke and can use the 24" tube for everything and anything in NY.My father has an 870 but only the smooth bore slug barrel.I don't think you can go wrong with either as far as quality goes but overall I like the 835 a little better.

870's a good all around gun... and is probably the best pump on the market. 835 is bad on geese, I don't think it shoots lighter loads as well, so I don't take it small game hunting.
My 870 will kill anything that moves, my 835 is restricted to ducks, geese, and turkeys.
