Some times a Gun choose You instead and You deal with what You have and what your intentions are in either Hunting or Target Practicing with it? 
There are better scopes out there,it just depends on what your planning on doing with it,the .308 is a great caliber! I have a Savage 111 GCNS Bolt-action 7mm-08 and it shots great and I really like the Accu-trigger too,...I have a Leupold 3X9X40mm matte black scope mounted on it.The Leupold scope is good and clear and works great in the early mornings/late evenings in low-light conditions when out hunting!
