new .243--
I hunted with a Savage in .222 years and years ago and recently with my .204, but really have no personal experience with the .243. Sold the .204 because I wanted just a little bit more size and power for the coyotes. From time to time on the forum the proper weight bullet for a particular rifle or rate of twist has been discussed--this is a new 700 BDL in .243, barrel is a 1 in 10 twist so what would be a good suggestion for the bullet weight?
Most of my shooting is 150 yards or less----John

thanks BigBulls--I've always had good luck with my rifles and factory ammo [ just don't get a chance to hunt or shoot enough to justify reloading ], and had thought about getting something in .243 for a good while. Just thought if one bullet weight might be closer to ideal than another, why not go with what gives the best accuracy--thanks again--------John

I use a Remington 700 that has a 9 1/8 twist and is my dedicated predator gun.
I use 75 gr. V-max; and not only do I find them to be accurate, but also put coyotes right down with very little pelt damage (if I place the shot well).

1:10 twist I believe only is suppose to shoot up to 100gr bullets, which is probably fine or more than fine for what you really want to do.
if you wanted to shoot 105 or 115 though you'd need a faster twist rate.

Waiting on the scope for it to arrive and hopefully, a warm enough day to get out to the range. --I've got two boxes of the Hornady 75 grain HP's to start with so that'll give me a chance to see how it shoots ----mainly waiting on the weather---
