I made mine for my father...who at age 77 can stand the recoil, but would rather not. The key is to make sure that the rest doesn't restrict ALL movement of the gun. The goal is to take out as much recoil as possible...but still allowing the rest to move a little.
Mr. Deer Hunter...If you can demonstrate what you're saying with that gun, it's worth a couple grand. I own 2 Gamemasters....1 in .270 and 1 in 30-06. The best I can get is 2" @ 100yds. I also had one in 35Rem, and it was similar. They are not notoriously accurate rifles. Don't get me wrong, they're great for hunting...but not target shooting.
