either will work, its just a matter of which you perfer. I would choose the .308 because it will be cheaper to get ammo.

Well, depends. Both do the job well, but if you want alot flatter rifle, I would proably go with the 270. Got both and wouldn' t hestate to take either on my next moose hunt. Probably the .308, second thought the .270.

The .270 is flatter shooting, the .308 is more inherently accurate, the .270 isn' t too over-powered for varminting but is too weak for moose and larger game, the .308 is a might over-powered for coyotes (although it has proven itself as a long range rifle for years) and will handle any game on this continent with ease...

It' s up to you, they are both quite similar, I own a .308, and many others, while I no longer own a .270win, I just don' t like having a deer rifle under 30cal, and don' t much care for sending bullets less than 150gr after 250# deer. I won' t say anything bad about the .270, but my personal preference would be the .308.

(you might consider their father cartridge, the .30-06, as both the .270 and the .308 are proginy of its legacy.)

I love the 270, and shoot whitetails religiously with it. I' ve even taken a couple black bears with it. Great caliber.

My opinion of it as a moose gun, however, is that it is a little light. The energy created by a 270 with a 150gr bullet is substantially less than most 30 cal' s with a 180 or 200 gr.

Just my opinion...

For the moose and Elk I' d rather have the .308 of the two mentioned.....

I prefer the heavier bullets the .308 can handle

Proline you might want to look up the ftlbs energy on the two ,The 270 with 150gr is more than the 308 with 180 or 200 gr . If you compare the same weight bullet in both guns the 270 still comes out better .

Halcon...I should have clarified myself. I wasn' t comparing the 270 and the 308, necessarily...I was looking at the 270 vs. larger 30 cals. I have gone to moose camp several times, and have seen guys lose moose with several calibers. The theme seems to be 300 Win. Mag. or larger.

Like I said....just my opinion.

In my opinion, a 308 isn' t a moose caliber either. Don' t rip me up on that....but that' s the way I feel.
