Default Ruger SR9

Anyone have one? Likes or dislikes?

I was thinking about picking one up. It feels great in the hand, it seems to have a pretty good review from most, on other sites.

Thought I'd see what you guys thought.

Some of them seem to have a reputation for having problems with the barrels peeing. Others with them seem to not report this problem so not everyone seems to have it. It's just enough of them that do have it that it makes me weary. However, Ruger has great customer service. Some of the best I've ever dealt with or even really read about. I wouldn't hesitate to buy most Rugers but just be aware that it may peen some. IMO for a range gun they are good. For a carry gun I think I'd chose a Glock instead. Or a old P series Ruger which are pretty much known for being super reliable.

Springfield XD would be a better choice. IMHO

Love mine, 300 rounds not a glitch. There is some peening and some other issues.

I'm a Glock man myself when it comes to self defense. I must say that the SR9 looks and feels great in my hands. EXCEPT for the lousy trigger. I handled one the other day in the gun shop and was really disappointed. Not only was the trigger heavy, it had a lot of creep and felt "gritty". I'm not sure if it was this particular pistol or what but I could not stand the trigger. It made my G27 trigger feel like a competition trigger....well almost!

There's been several issues with the SR9. I hang out at the Ruger forums and have read allot of complaints. I'm a Ruger fan but Ruger needs to correct these problems before I would buy one. For SD I think a Glock is the best gun for the money. They aren't pretty but they work and work well.
