RE: M1 carbine
The M-1 carbine has 10, 20, and 30 round clips and many marines taped two 30 round clips together to make a fast conversion to a 60 round magazine.
Sadly it has little energy for hunting and is a fun gun for targets and plinking.....it worked better than a Colt 1911 .45 ACP for dispatching the enemy on the Pacific islands but this is the end of it' s history.....I don' t even think military ammo is widely available today....it' s time we bury this relic!!!.....yes...it' s a heck of a lot of fun to shoot!!!

The M1 Carbine does not use a CLIP. It uses a MAGAZINE. The M1 Garand used a clip.
I love these little buggers and I don' t think it' s time to bury it. Any weapon used by our military even the ones that were underpowered is a great piece to anyones collection. Surplus ammo can still be had and Winchester makes the nice target ammo also.

Cheers to the good old M1....I had one of those sweet babies before they banned them in Canada and took many deer with it!!!! Was a great bush gun but when our A-hole government decided to restrict them [:@] I switched to the Ruger .44 carbine!!!!!!!!! Just my personal .02 cents worth...........Brampton Mike [8D]

RE: M1 carbine
My apologies to those of you that are military collectors....the M1 Carbine is definitely a collector item and belongs in the cabinet of the collector.
I had one years ago and loved shooting small game with it...it' s a blast. In most states it' s not legal for deer. But get a fox or coyote running inside a hundred yards and you' re in for a lot of fun as long as you know the country you' re hunting well. Sadly, the population growth in the last fifty years has made the " spray and pray" shooting more than hadardous....unless you live somewhere like wyoming.
I still contend that it has little practical use. Ruger' s mini14 and other semiautos have eclipsed the old carbine completely.

There' s an Israeli company that makes M1 carbine replicas commercially, I think IAI. They run about $450 which isn' t a bad deal considering that original M1 carbines start at that price for one that is beat up and mismatched.
Surplus ammo isn' t hard to find either, and is pretty cheap.
