...............I have owned and shot lots of Rugers, Remingtons and Winchesters. It has always been my perception that the Rugers seemed to have more recoil generally than the others in equal caliber/cartridge than the others. By the same token, however, I have an older 725 Rem. in .280 that will loosen your fillings. It is a tremendous shooter though....

I've had the same experience with Rugers...I had a tang safety M77 .338 WM that was brutal from the bench.....Finally got tired of getting beat up and swapped it for a CZ-550 in 9.3 x 62 as my big/toothy critter gun... Much better...
