The lawyer bar(AT) on the savage takes awhile to get use to, in fact i still ain't in love with the thing and its been 3 + years. Everyone is different though. I personally am not a big fam of the safety either with the savages...what can i say i'd like 700 actions. However you must deciede what feels best to you.
In regards to the recoil, yes a noticable difference from the 243 but for most shooters tolerable(much like the 3006). Shotgun recoil IMO is different then CF. In fact CF to CF are different to me. The biggest key is fit, if the gun doesn't fit.. it will hurt!
I've been shooting the rem mag for years, it's a great cartridge which can be used for game upto and including Moose. Been my deer cartridge for years and a .284 will continue to be for years to come.

#1,I got a new place to hunt, and shots can be 400+ yards.#2,something with more power than a 243#3,i thought it would be cool to have a rifle that has ''MAG'' stamped on the barrel.I guess im just young and dumb!!!!!!!!!!LMAO

Good enough reason for me, go get a 7mm mag!

Like I said previously, don't limit yourself to just a couple of makes. Try a few others, because as has also been previously stated, if it don't fit, IT WILL HURT.

My rem 700 fits me PERFECT,i honestly, cant feel the kick from the 700 in 243.I know the 7 mag will kick MUCH,MUCH, HARDER!!!!!!!!!!!!i think i can take it though. The only time i shoot the 243,is to check my scope b4 deer season.now my 22 and my 17 and my shotguns git shot alot, haha, look at the squirrel huntin contest!!!!!!sorry off topic,i can shoot my semi auto 12 gauge with 3'' 5 shot 4 times in a row with no complainin about recoil.(off a bench)

This might sound silly but,im 5'11 170lbs,do you think i can stand the kick of the 7mm mag?I shot a .50 cal muzzleloader 1 time today, and its not bad at all!!!!!!CVA Wolf shootin 150 gr of powder.

Depends on your shooting style. I remember when I first started shooting, recoil bothered me a lot. But I quickly learned how to "roll with the gun" and it was no longer a pain at all. There are plenty of guys smaller than you who can take lots of recoil, and plenty larger guys that don't like recoil. It all comes down to the shooter, and I would guess you'll be fine.
