Ruger 243 "sticking"
Hello.
I'm new to the site and I've got my first question about a new rifle I've just recently purchased.
The gun is a new Ruger 243 Win and I'm shooting Remington Premier Core-Lokt Ultra Bonded PSP bullets and they are "stuck" after the shot. It takes a lot of force to cycle the next round, in fact my son cannot cycle the bolt without help.
These are the first six rounds through the gun.
I realize the casing is expanding after the shot, but is this a gun problem or a bullet problem?

I would visually inspect the chamber for any deformity and inspect the bolt. If you see anything contact Ruger. If it looking ok, I would try a different brand of ammo. You can get the 100gr Federals pretty cheap at Wally world if their available or even the winchester stuff.
Keep us informed.

Did you clean the chamber before you shot it for the first time? Typically when a case gets stuck in the chamber with factory ammo it is either very dirty or rusted. With a new gun I suspect very dirty with packing grease, possible machining shavings, etc...

Took the gun to the local gunsmith today and turns out there is a "burr" inside the chamber. He tried to buff it out but it still would not cycle smoothly. So, had to leave it there so he could run the de-burr tool through the chamber and then buff it out.
Hope that works, kinda dissapointing to have these issue's with a new gun.

While I'd hate to pay to ship it back as it's probably more than paying to have him polish the chamber I'd also be afraid if the gunsmith couldn't fix it and I needed warranty repair work they'd no longer cover it after he has messed with it.

Ruger Sucks Period. I bought a brand new Ruger 2 yrs ago ss/synthetic bolt rifle and the gun shop couldn't even put 3 shots on a paper plate at 100yds. They put 3 scopes( 2 leupys,1 burris) on it 2 sets of rings, and 2 brands of ammo they had in stock. Gave up and called Ruger they told me and the shop owner that the guns accuracy was acceptable by there standards! I have no idea what there standards are but I guess if the gun goes off that makes it acceptable! Anyway lucky for me the shop owner gave me a full refund toward a Rem 700 and was no happy at all with Rugers coustomer service. He no longer carries Rugers in the shop. If you can get them to do anything about there sloppy made rifles consider yourself lucky!
