Exclamation 44 mag or 500 S&W- Need some advice

I was at gander mountain today and saw a HR Single Shot 44 mag combo (had a bushnell 3-9 power scope) for $347and a 500 S&W HR Single Shot (no sights) for $150. This gun would mainly be used for deer in brush type setting but my eventually go for something bigger. I've got the $150 but would have to sell a 357 that I don't shoot for the 44 mag. Need advice and quick!!

I'd go 500, but I handload...so, whatever suits your fancy

If you can't do it with the 44 Mag then you are not going to do it with the 500 either.

Go with the .44

44 mag. leaves you with so many more options and in a carbine would be effective to 150 yds. or so.
I am not a big fan of the 500 SW but if I needed something like that I'd be more inclined to go 460 SW anyway.

In the brush? The .44 mag will do it and when you compare the cost of ammo I think you will quickly choose the .44 also!

Wound up trading off my 357 and a marlin 22 to grab a Marlin 1894 44 mag and scope.. I'm very pleased with what I'm seeing. I started looking at the cost of ammo 500 S&W and it just seemed outrageous. I payed 36 dollars for 50 rounds of ammo for the 44 mag. Just seemed like a better deal for a brush gun.

For a gun like that, I would go with the 500. I own a 460Smith and bunch of 44's. 460 is about my limit for control in a pistol. But for rifle, why not.
