Synthetic blued. I do 90 percent of my hunting with Synthetic 700 Remmingtons. I once had 27 high powered rifles and 23 handguns. five shotguns and 4 22 rifles. It was way more trouble than it was worth. I now have about 10 percent of those.

I was hoping this was going to be one of those " which action types do you like" threads, oh well.
It really depends, all of my primaries (my first selection for the year for each hunt) are blued/wood (usually walnut), but almost all of my backups are synthetic stocks, in either stainless or blued (depending on the action types, I don' t have a stainless SKS or H&R, but I' ve got syn on them.) Most of my hunting rifles and my shotguns are blued/walnut, while almost all of my handguns are stainless/wood or syn. even matching there. Anything that I consider a serious shooter, however, is stainless/synthetic, as wood sucks for accurizing, and stainless is just so pretty when it' s fluted and an inch and a quarter thick, as are my " gluttons for punishment" , those savages (that' s kind of a pun, since they are rather uncivilized, and are Savages, sorry) that " like" going out in the rain and snow and mud and muck because my others don' t want to. When I really think about it, I prefer blued/walnut for cosmetics, but for maintenance and peace of mind, s/s is much nicer...most of what I' ve bought more recently has been s/s, while almost all of my good ol' stand bys are b/w' s.

All Savages -
Long Range Varmint - Bolt, 22-250 blued/synthetic
Coyote Hunter - Bolt, 243 blued/camo painted wood
Big Game - Bolt, 7mm-08 stainless/synthetic
Big Game - Bolt, 300WSM stainless/synthetic
Big Game - Lever 308 blued/wood
Pests - Semi-Auto 22lr blued/synthetic
All in all I hunt with the stainless/synthetic about 90% of the time and they take all I can throw at them weather wise.

RE: what type of rifle do you hunt with most?
The rifle I hunt with most has a walnut stock and blued barelled action. It is not my favorite configuration (synthetic/stainless), but this rifle is chambered for a very versatile cartridge (.270 Wby Mag) and it is extremely accurate, so it is usually the first rifle I reach for when it is time to go hunting.
