Treedog ,You paid the normal price ,I just happened to get these at a auction where they were selling a private collection . This guy had donated the guns to a charity . There was over 750 guns in his collection . Most of them went for less than wholesale . I was just luck to be able to get some that I wanted at a very good price .
Whelen according to gun list the A bolt don' t come with sights . They auctioned off about 30 of them there today and none of them had sights . I could be mistaken but thats what my book says .

whelen36...
at a time they might of came with iron sights. but as of now the only gun that comes with or without iron sights is the BLR' s and the BAR' s.
i am gonna go with the browning composite stalker in 25-06rem.or the ruger international in 243win. hopefully i can get iron sights installed on it.

What is it about Ruger you don' t like? I suggest you get a No. 1A in 7X57mm. I' ve had one since 1976, and it is as good as or better than any other hunting rifle I have owned, from Mann. Schoenauers to Heyms to J.P. Sauers to Win. M70 Pre-64 Super Grades....

eldeguello..
i like the idea of iron sights. i have nothing against ruger firearms but i hear you have to replace the trigger or get it wored on to get the trigger down to where it should be. i was also thinking of the ultra light mark II M77 in 257roberts but it does not come W/iron sights.
my girlfriends father has one just like yours ( don' t know which one it is model wise ) but it does not fit me at all. plus i don' t have that much money to shell out. since i don' t reload and won' t be doing so int he furture would leave me using 120gr. 7X57 instead of 140gr. due to factory loadngs.also i would like to get a caliber smaller than the .284
so it leads me to..
ruger international 243win.
browning BLR 81' 25-06rem
browning BLR 81' 358win
browning stalker 25-06rem

halcon , the last time that i remember the hunter version having iron sights was back in the late 80' s and early 90' s buddy , so when i said that , it was more of a question if they still offered them. thanks for letting me know as i like the idea of iron sights as well as a back up if the scope takes a dump on you.
of course the iron' s don' t help for long shots or give the accuracy you can achieve with good handloads a chance ( if you handload )

Quilly, have you looked at the Howa' s yet?, the laminate stock not synthetic. I have one in .223 Varminter configuration, smooth very smooth. I have a model 700 ADL in 257 Roberts that is also a nice gun. I agree with you to want sights on it as a backup if the glass is damaged.
