Guns Like firearms themselves, there's a wide variety of opinions on what's the best gun.

This gets easier, right....?

So today I decided to completely disassemble and cleanmy SA G.I. 45.

This would be the first time this gun was completely taken apart.

Getting the slide off and apart was easy enough, but the frame? Holy cr@p, getting that slide safety out was brutal!!

Right now I have all the parts soaking in Hopps.

It does get easier the more you do it I hope?

It gets easier, even the safety, mag release, etc... all come apart with little to no trouble after a while. Congrats on the new pistol!

Congrats on the new pistol!
Well it is not "new" just the first time I felt up to the task of taking down the frame. And I am happy to report the gun is now completely reassembled. Getting the sear and main spring lined up were the only really tricky parts.

I rarely take the trigger/hammer assembly apart for cleaning. It is not necessary to completely strip it on a routine basis....
