Mossberg 695-opinions wanted
I currently hunt with a Remington 1100 for shorter ranges but our land was recently logged and I now have opportunities for 100+ yard shots. I am thinking about buying a Mossberg 695, anyone have any experiences, good or bad, with the gun? Thanks.

I have had one for several years now. It is a good gun, although the safety is a rotating switch on the back of the bolt and is not easy to get to with a low mounted scope. I have tried several types of slugs through it. From the bench, it will shoot the BRI style slugs from Win under 2" at 100, the Lightfields and Hastings run about 2" and the new style copper solids run about 2" with a flier every 5 or 6 shots. I hunt with the lightfields as they are devastating on game without too much damage to the meat, and I got 15 boxesfor $1 a box on sale. I have not tried any of the lighter, faster slugs through it, as I didn't expect any shots over 100-125 yards and the lightfields have done sowell. I did have to shorten the stock as the LOP was over 14". Took off about an inch and it shoulders much better for menow.

Hi ive had one since early 2000. Nice gun ive gotten great groups with partition gold. But, the price of them sucks. I also get great groups with rottweiller slugs touching at 50 yards. And 4inch group at 100. Where i hunt 50 is pushing it. Also i Like the damage both slugs do. I guess im just cheap. I have a bushnell Banner scope on it. 1.75 by 4 never lost zero. I like the scope. I know i will never part with my 695......
