Look at Lilja, Krieger, Pacnor, Shilen, etc. Any barrel maker winning a serious accuracy competition makes either single point cut rifled or button rifled barrels with extensive lapping. There are no winners with hammer forged barrels. I think there is one hammer forged barrel maker Loher Walther(I butchered the name) who makes competative, but not winning hammer forged barrels.

My dad who's essentially a metallurgist tells me that hammer forged barrels if done properly should be the preferred method to make a barrel. He talks circles around me but what he says makes sense.

I'd stick with the Browning. Groups under 2" is all you need in a hunting rifle.
