Most folks use a 12g pump with a full or extra full choke. For sights either a red dot scope or open fiber optics are best.I use a Mossberg 835.Good luck!

Browning BPS, Mossberg 500, 535, 930, 935, Remington 870, Benelli Nova/Supernova, Stoeger P350, and the Stoeger M2000 are just a couple of good choices within your price range. Try them out and see what fits you best then its time to think choke/load combo!
Good luck.

Take a long hard look at the Stoeger 2000. Amazing gun for the price. Right around the $450 range.

For me in that price range it would be a used Remington 1100 or a new Remington 11-87. I have a 870 now but don't use it for turkeys but while it's a okay gun I've had to have it worked on to get it to shoot right. Never was right even out of the box has always jammed a lot. Had to have the chamber of the barrel polished before it would shoot halfway right with Winchester 2 3/4" shells. Never had that problem on 3 or 3 1/2" shells but it jams all the time with them too. I'm hoping after the polishing the chamber will fix it but not sure haven't shot it enough since. I bought a pump as I thought it would jam less than the autos but turns out it jams just as much if not more so I don't think I want another pump. I've always like the semi auto's a lot better and wish I had just gotten one. I don't really like the pump any better than I thought I would after having it. In fact I like it quite a bit less than I thought I would.

If you want to spend more than your budget I really like the Benelli Super Black Eagle II.

Benelli Nova, cammo finished pump. My son-in-law and I both have one that will handle up to the shoulder smashing 3.5" shells. We have been very pleased. Price around here is about $350.
