Which do you prefer Kydex or Leather Holster for pistol?

It's going to be EXTREMELY hard to help you choose without more information such as revolver or semi-auto, size, hunting, self defense, open carry, concealed carry, competition, etc?

Auto, to carry while bowhunting, either on belt or backpack. Thanks.

I'd go with the molded plastic holsters for an auto as they do a great job of retaining them.
