Switching safety
I have a Remington gamemaster pump in 308 which apparently was set up for a left hander. The safety is on when pushed out on the left side. Does anyone know if this can be switchedeasily? It is awkward to take the safety off.I do not have a book on this gun.

RE: Switching safety
You might be able to download the manual from Remingtons website. If not, if you call their customer service line I'm sure they'd send you one for a small fee. If that doesn't help, you could just take it to your local gunsmith who could switch the safety back to a right hand configuration.

RE: Switching safety
It's pretty easily changed. You MIGHT have to buy a new safety however they're not expensive. If you do go with a new safety, opt for oversize just for sake of convience. Brownells have safetys for your rifle.

yeah you can change them over. Now you know how all us leftys feel. But we have learned to adapt to such minor problems. If you don't change it over, the easiest way to work it is to carry with your middle finger around the trigger guard and on the safety. A quick push whille shouldering the rifle is all that you need. I've hunted with 870s like that for almost 40 years.

RE: Switching safety
If you don't know what you are doing take it to a local smith, please. Yes I'm a smith and charge for this change over, but I believe safety's and (trigger groups) need left to someone that knows what they are doing! Why take a chance on shooting someone or thing by so called accident? My 2 cents....
