hornady SST ammo
any deer hunters shoot Hornady SST ammo?? bought some 165gr SST ammo for my 30-06 to hunt with this year...usually shoot 165gr ballistic tips...price of them was about double for a box!
just curious about performance on deer...any worries? stay away from bone? anything like that? how do they perform??
thanx...just curious...they shot well. 4 shot cloverleaf finished my session...i was pleased...gun is pretty funny about its ammo..i dont think ive had anything shoot as well as the SST's did...

RE: hornady SST ammo
A very good well constructed round, I think you will find that they fly true and straight. They are a nice balancebetween your balistic tips and an accubond. I don't think you will have any problems with Hornady.

thanx alot for the feedback!!
i looked at my target again...i KNOW they shot better than anything ive shot from the rifle (old Belgium 98k Mauser with original barrel!) figured my barrel was shot....but i think the coating on the ballistic silvertips was killing the accuracy and wouldnt come out of the grooves till the other day when i used my foaming cleaner in it for the first time...but those SSTs impressed me....seemed a bit hotter than the powerpoints and a federal load i was burning brass on prior to shooting the SSTs
hopefully monday i'll get to test em out and thump a buck with em...

I have never shot the 165gr, but I have shot the 150gr. They perform very well. Accuracyis greatand every deer that I have shot with them hasa good entrance and exit wound whether hit in theshoulder or not. None went very far.

i have used the 150 and the 165 in a mossberg 30-06 as well as the 95 in a 243. you cant go wrong with them. my only dislike about the 243 is that they are not a boat tail, but none of the deer i harvested with them complained.

thanx for bringing this to the top guys...
i did take a buck with the SSTs this year. shot through the heart put him down within 15yds or so....im going to stick with them...shot well and performed well. holes werent real big, even when skinned...but really didnt hit bone...put about a 1/2" hole through the heart and made a mess of the insides...cant complain at all
