Default question about new rifle purchase

i' m considering buying a new rifle , the choices i' ve came down to are the new remington 673 in .350 rem. mag. , or the new browning lightning blr in .358 win. , both of these rifles would be used on larger game ( sika , fallow deer , elk ) . both have feature i like , the remington has the laminated stock , the browning is a fast handling lever action , both are short brush-type guns , the browning' s shorter but, the remington has the power advantage. i' ve only gotten the best quality from both makers and my most recent purchase was just a little over a year ago .

which do you think i should go for ??

i take it by your name you already own a 35whelen. so there is really no reason to own a 350rem mag. i would go with the 358win.

Quilly-Actually the 35whelen and 358winchester offer very similar ballistics while the 350remington offers a bit more velocity than either of the others. So if he has a 35whelen the 358winchester would offer no advantage making the 350 remington a more logical choice.

The Remington 673 is ugly. The Browning BLR is a nice-looking rifle. Both will do what you ask, so I' d get the BLR.

I would go with the Browning. That Remington 673 is too ugly to be seen in the woods with. What a joke on Remington' s concept team.

thanks guys but , after talking to my dealer , my hunting friends , and the most trusted hunting idol in my eyes ( a.k.a. my 80 year old , and still actively hunting grandfather ) . i' m leaning towards the remington 673 in .350 mag.

thanks for your replies

Good choice. I have had trouble with a couple of the Browning Levers.

If a guy has a .35 Whelen, he doesn' t need a .350 Rem. Mag. OR a .358 Win. He may need a shorter, lighter, easier to handle rifle, however. In that case, I would suggest a 20" barrelled Browning BLR, which has handling speed, power and accuracy all in one short package!!
