Thanks! I decided to get the superlight in .223. It is almost 2 pounds lighter and the barrel is two inches shorter thant the regular handirifle (20" vs. 22" ) they are the same price. I was going to get the regular model but the supplier only had it in wood and I wanted synthetic. Even still, I think the light synthetic is the way to go. Mostly I am using this for turkeys so short and light is good. BTW, I found out from the website that the superlight can be fitted with any of the barrels that the regular handilight can.... everything from .22 hornet to 30.06 and muzzleloading and shotgun barrels too.. The prices aren' t bad either. $60-$80 plus $10 for their shipping and then you can change out the barrels on your own after that.. Pretty neat, the poor man' s TC Encore!! Ha ha!!

Clearanceman,
Good call, I have that exact gun. Love it! It is so nice and light and quick handling.
I called in 4 coyotes this year and killed them all with one shot each with this rifle.

Thanks for the info on the light rifle barrels. I though you could only get the .223 and the .243 in the light rifle.

I am going to get rechambered to the 7m-08 or .308 and use it for my backpacking deer hunting rifle.
Where else can you get a 5 1/2 pound deer rifle for $200 plus $80 for a rebarrel.

Noway,
I think the light only comes in those two calibers, but they can take any of the barrels that the regular ones can take. It is the same receiver as the regular gun. And it does seem like a fantastic deal, for $20 more than a low end 22 mag bolt action, you can get a centerfire and then change barrels for $80. And you can even add a muzzleloading barrel or shotgun barrel too.

Cool! This must have been how it was when TC first came out with the contender and they weren' t so expensive.

Can' t wait to get my .223 superlight! I was reading on the websight that it is 351/2 inches long with a 20" barrel. That is really short! That is a little shorter than my 10/22! That is very cool!!! Should be fun.. !
