You can't carry a pistol while hunting in IL?
Wasn't sure if you could or couldn't just asking? ie what if hunting private property, ie yours?
I thought you could hunt with a semi-auto for that late deer season...? use to be the case anyway I thought I remember reading...as long as it met the min. energy and caliber size?
Guess not, I thought you use to be able to use a semi auto for that late doe season, perhaps not, either way you can't any longer...

It has always been either revolver or single shot pistols for deer hunting. We are allowed to use semi-auto shotguns for deer hunting, smallgame and waterfowl. We are allowed to use AR's and centerfires for coyotes. And I am REALLY surprised as heck at that!!!!

I hunted for about 50 years without, but I started 2 years ago...Usually it's my Glock 23...No, it's not enough for our black bears but I have hunted around them for years without bothering them or them bothering me...I'm not worried about them, what I am concerned with a .40 S&W is plenty lethal for...

I take out my SRH from time to time when I still hunt or on stand simply because I would like to get a deer with it, I like to use what I have, and during fall turkey and grouse season I take along my super 9 22 mag in the event a longer shot poses itself with a bird on the ground, than my 16 side by side could handle.
