H&R Ultra Slu Hunter 12 or 20???
This summer before hunting season roles around I am going to buy a H&R Ultra Slug Hunter. What I am not sure about is whether to but a 12 ga. or 20 ga.. The 12 is more powerful, but the 20 is more compatible w/ other barrels. Any input would be very helpful. Thank you!!!

I' d get the 12ga mainly because it will be easier to buy ammo for. For deer the power of one or the other is not a big issue, either one would work great. The recoil should be no problem even with the 12ga because the H&R slug gun is pretty heavy and that soaks up alot of recoil. It all comes down to which one you like better.

If you get a rifled barrel and put a scope on it, plus use ammo like the Win. Partition Gold, I would buy the 20 Ga. It is so accurate you can place your shot as well as you can with a rifle, and these new slugs make a shotgun more like a pretty heavily loaded .45/70 instead of a shotgun. This includes the 20 Ga.!! It is NOT as powerful as the same kind of load in a 12 Ga., but it' s PLENTY for anything less than a Kodiak bear!!
