other way to put a scope on

RE: other way to put a scope on
What I am saying is that see thru mounts must sit high enough above the bore that it causes you to have to lift your cheek off of the comb so much that you accuracywill likelysuffer. If you use standard mounts of the proper height you will have a much better hold on the stock and your accuracy should be a bit better because you have a good strong, steady and properhold on the rifle.
Also by having to hold your head off the stock it can cause the gun to slap you cheek and the perceived recoil is usually greater than if you have a proper hold on the rifle.
Also see thru mounts are a much weaker design than a solid mount and can be bent or knocked off zero much much easier than solid mounts.

RE: other way to put a scope on
In my opinion, see-thru mounts are a gimmick foisted off on the hunting public as an alternative to open vs. scope sights. The real crux of the situation is that people who are not familiar enough with their gun think it's a good idea. The answer is to get that POS off there and get used to mounting your gun often enough that you will automatically be looking thru the scope right now. This takes some time and practice, but once achieved, is well worth it. If you have only one sight that you use well, you won't be worrying which one to use and wasting time pddling around looking thru both trying to make up your mind.
If you want something to fidget with, put a variable power scope on the gun and drive yourself nuts trying to decide which power to have it on.............
