870 cantilever barrel

RE: 870 cantilever barrel
I got mine from Cabelas for about $189 or so. It was a 23" Fully Rifled Cantilever Barrel. Fit my 870 quite well and worked well. I would have been comfortable taking animals to 100, maybe 125 yards. Hope this helps.

Mossberg makes a 24 inch cant. barrel for the 870 that can be had for $150 from wally world. Remington, Badger barrel, and Hasting all make these barrels. After a lot of discussion with a lot of experienced slug shooters, Hastings seems to be the most accurate on a consistent basis.

Can't help you on the price, cuz I got mine as part of a 1gun/2barrel package through Gander Mountain, but I can tell to pay whatever a Remington factory barrel costs. Whole thing was just under $500.
I've heard good things about the Hastings barrels for birds and turkeys, but I've seen first hand just how nice the Rem rifled slug barrels shoot. Mine really likes the Rem CoreLokt, and Winchester Supremes at 1,900 fps and 385g. 100 yards = 1 big hole
125 yard doe, nothing but lung (again 1 big hole), with a 2x scope.
Almost too easy. I hope you havesimilar results.

OH YEAH...I am wanting to change over to the 3" slugs this year! The 2 3/4" just isnt cuttin it no more.. I looked on walmart.com and they have a remington with scope for 242. I had Mike on this forum offer me one that has been shot twice for 200 shipped w/o scope..i cant seem to find one cheaper..what kind of scopes you using with them?
